Is this a trick question? No, there's more depth to it. Why this philosophical challenge? I went skiing a Brighton, Utah a few days ago. I haven't skied there in over ten years. Just arriving in the parking lot brought pack a lot of old memories. It's seems like older you get, the more this nostalgic feeling grips you when you go places you've been before. I can't imagine what it will be like in twenty or thirty years. I guess that why old folks like to tell stories. Back to the question. Why do you Ski? For the Feeling. When I was younger, I liked the moguls and the jumps. I was into the videos and the ski personalities. As I aged I shunned the "scene" and the resorts, and headed into the backcountry and freed my heel. Now I have kids and I'm teaching them to ski, and my temperament has changed. I like all types of skiing, cross-country, telemark, AT, and downhill both at the resorts and in the backcountry. I ski for the feeling, no matter what discipline, it's about me moving over the snow and me(and my family) enjoying the outdoors. Please share, Why you ski? in the comments. |
