As I leave the show, I think about all the great people I've met over the last four days. It's cool to see the hard working people behind the products and companies. Most conversations begin with the standard product pitch and end with a swapping of stories about our outdoor adventures. I love hearing about how fellow parents are introducing their children to the outdoors. At the end of the day (and the Outdoor Retailer Show), we're all after the same goal. Making a living doing what we love. I'm handwriting this post on the UTA Trax train as I'm heading home from the show. I'm seated in the front of the train where many of the people with disabilities board the train. I can't help but think about how these folks would give anything to have the mobility that most of us take for granted. A mobility that allows us to get off the beaten track and get into outdoor places. I'm reminded of the "I Will" campaign launched at the show by the Outdoor Foundation. The goal of this movement is to take two kids into outdoors this summer. It's pretty simple. If we each share our experiences, we'll introduce kids to a lifetime of learning about, recreating in and conserving the Outdoor World. |
