Zion National Park

Angel's Landing is a 1,208-foot sandstone monolith located in Zion Canyon, which is by far the most visited area of Zion National Park. The trail begins across the road from the Grotto Shuttle Stop and requires no special permits.

Zion National Park is characterized by high plateaus, a maze of narrow, deep sandstone canyons and striking rock towers and mesas. Geologic processes have played an important role in shaping Zion. The arid climate and sparse vegetation allow the exposure of large expanses of bare rock that have created scenic canyons with sandstone cliffs ranging in color from cream, to pink, to red.
