We are an Outdoor e-Zine. Our contributors review outdoor gear, and provide insight on outdoor destinations, pursuits and recreation.

Here's the National Outdoors Top 10 List for the Summer 2008 Outdoor Retailer Show. The list is in no particular order, and there's no mathematical criteria we used to put this list together. These are products and companies that caught our eyes for a variety of reasons. Some companies are innovating ways to reduce their overall environmental impact, some products will introduce new comers to outdoor sports, some products are creative improvements on existing products, and some products are just flat out cool. |

As I leave the show, I think about all the great people I've met over the last four days. It's cool to see the hard working people behind the products and companies. Most conversations begin with the standard product pitch and end with a swapping of stories about our outdoor adventures. I love hearing about how fellow parents are introducing their children to the outdoors. At the end of the day (and the Outdoor Retailer Show), we're all after the same goal. Making a living doing what we love. |

I wrote previously about feeling drawn to the forests, and as I have thought more about it over the past couple weeks I came to realize that what I was really craving was a particular type of deep woods serenity that I have only experienced a few times in the coast range along the Pacific. Well it turns out that this type of forest is actually more rare than I realized. |

Floating the Niangua River in Missouri is a great time for family and friends. The river is farely easy for children. If your looking for a slow relaxing river trip with some small rapid areas the Niangua river is a great place to float. After years of our water bottles rolling around the bottom of our canoes, we created the Can-panion. It's a clip-on beverage holder for Canoes, Kayaks, Jon boats, Pontoon boats and more. I saw this sled at the Outdoor Retailers show. They had a few sleds on display and a video showing the sled in action. Click on the image to the right to see a larger view of the sled and the features. |

Lake Tahoe is a year-round resort town, with skiing, snowboarding, and other snow activities available through the Winter and into the Spring. The Summer and Fall seasons provide opportunities for hiking, biking, camping, fishing, paddling, swimming, and boating. The lake is divided by the California and Nevada state border, so lodging can be found in either state, with casinos available on the Nevada side. Otherwise, accommodations and resorts are usually associated with either North Lake Tahoe or South Lake Tahoe. |
