Constantly looking for fresh ways to integrate eco-conscious materials into
its products, prAna a leading active lifestyle apparel manufacturer based in California, is excited to introduce two new sustainable collections to its Fall/Winter 2008 product line: the Ashbury and Travel Bag collection. Demonstrating its commitment to helping to safeguard the environment and preserving Earth’s natural resources, prAna has increased its use of sustainable materials from 90 styles in spring 2008 to more than 100 styles for fall 2008.
”We are wholly dedicated in our efforts to increase the use of sustainable materials in our collections and have consistently increased our offerings each season,” said prAna Founder Beaver Theodosakis. “Our goal is not only to reduce our environmental footprint but to use the prAna brand to engage businesses and consumers in a dialogue about sustainability, sharing these ideas and, hopefully, effecting their purchasing decisions. Education is ultimately what will lead to the most positive impacts to our environment.”
Asbury Collection
Adding to its hugely popular women’s performance collection, the Asbury Collection
exemplifies prAna’s philosophy on style with sustainability. Constructed from 90%
organic cotton and 10% spandex, this seven-piece collection includes a range of tops
and bottoms including the Ashbury Kari Top and Ashbury Elisa Pant. Each
individual piece is hand-dipped in organic dyes and the color is steam set, minimizing
the amount of water usage and levels of salt and other compounds typically used in tiedying.
Each one-of-a-kind piece has a soft hand and is designed to move in harmony
with those that live their lives in motion.

collection is constructed from 55% hemp and 45% recycled polyester. They feature
functional details that include adjustable shoulder straps, external bike light latch
points as well as padded computer storage sleeves and cell phone pockets.
