Easton's new Artica snowshoe line is already receiving praise. The Easton Artica Backcountry was recognized in Outdoor Magazine's 2009 Gear of the Year.
I tested out the Backcountry and Men's Hiker at the Winter OR demo. You immediately notice the quality when you put the snowshoe on your foot. The binding system cinches around your boot with one easy pull. The toe piece has two independent crampons that allow for maximum traction. It's very easy to maneuver in the snowshoes, and they hold well on steep icy side hills. (The Backcountry, with a larger rear crampon, performed better than the Hiker.)
Easton is committed to a long-standing environmental responsibility policy. 100% of Easton Mountain Sports production energy is offset with renewable wind-power energy, and the Artica snowshoes are made from 80% recyclable materials.
