The US Forest Service and the American Recreation Coalition are teaming up to create a nation-wide effort to get Americans outdoors. They have declared Saturday June 14th 2008 National Get Outdoors Day. The goal of the day is to connect children and "First Timers" to the outdoors and show them the benefits of outdoor recreation and activities. Many Americans are unaware of vast and scenic pubic lands around them. National Get Outdoors Day invites everyone to check out America's Great Outdoors - our parks, our forests, our refuges and other public lands and waters. National Get Outdoors Day Forum National Get Outdoors Day will be celebrated at ski areas, state parks and other sites in close proximate to metropolitan areas. This is a great day for all of us outdoor enthusiasts to take along those friends and family members, who have been asking to join us for a hike, a bike ride, a camping trip, or just to get some fresh air and see the scenery. Let's get them off the couch and show them what they've been missing. Look to National Outdoors for more coverage on National Get Outdoors Day as the date nears. |
