Life Gear LifeLight Review

Life Gear LifeLight

The Life Gear LifeLight is a handy tool to have around camp, around the house or in your truck. This multi-function lantern is powered by a hand crank, so you'll never need to worry about the batteries running out. The lantern has a number of other features, all powered by the hand crank, including an AM/FM Radio, a cell phone charger, and an external speaker that you can connect to your iPod or MP3 player. It also has a siren and flashing red warning light to signal in case of emergency, and a small compass.

A one minute crank equals 45 minutes of light from 3 LEDs or 25 minutes of light from 9 LEDs. The one minute crank will give you 10 minutes of radio power. I used the "night light" feature and had one small LED for almost the entire night.

This is a nice back-up, multi-function tool to have . You can leave it with your camping gear or in your vehicle, and always have a reliable source of light with a few turns of the crank. The speakers don't offer the best sound quality, but if you want to listen to some tunes or the ballgame, it works. The adapter for the iPod also works well. I didn't try out the cell phone charger because the cord supplied didn't match my phone. You can purchase a cord to fit your phone at companies website listed below.

The LifeLight retails for about $70.
