Fritschi Freeride AT Binding Review
The Fritschi Freeride has received accolades from the top ski magazines and, from what I’ve seen, is the choice of AT skiers. Most AT skiers I know ride on these bindings. The Freeride is lightweight for touring, and sturdy for bombing the groomers at the resort. You can quickly adjust the climbing block height to three levels, and lock the binding down with the handle of your ski pole.
PROS
You can ski this binding at the resort and in the backcountry. You really can’t tell the difference between this binding and traditional alpine binding once you have the heal locked down. These bindings are well made and have few working parts so you have less chance for a break down in the backcountry.
CONS
If you’re a very technical alpine skier, you will notice that this is not an alpine binding. It performs well, but it’s not a high end alpine racing binding.
